After our discussion with Amanda about the different New York neighborhoods, the word gentrification had really been beaten into our heads, because of its occurrence in almost every art neighborhood. The art comes in and then gentrification typically follows. I like the authors point of view when discussing the broadness of the definition of gentrification. It is being used to say many things, typically with the negative connotation, making it difficult to start up a conversation with others about the topic. I really enjoyed their discussion about artists and how they relate to this process.
